Thread lifting has become a much-discussed topic in recent years.
DOES IT WORK?
DOES IT LAST?
IS IT SAFE?
IS IT WORTH IT?
Who is thread lifting suitable for?
Thread lifting is usually considered to be a procedure on the boundary of mini-invasive and invasive procedures. It does not replace a surgical facelift, it only delays it and serves as an initial step. For better orientation in the world of threads and mesothreads, we offer a small overview. Threads are divided according to several aspects:
1. Objective - effect:
2. Degradability:
3. Material (most common):
4. Application method:
5. Thread profile:
Lifting – lift – traction threads
They are introduced into the subcutaneous fat layer in order to:
All that for rejuvenation, shaping and lifting.
Tightening threads – mesothreads
They are introduced into the skin wherever the skin is lax, thin, wrinkled and needs strengthening.
Polydioxanone – PDO
Polylactic acid (PLLA) or a combination of polylactic acid + polycaprolactam P (LA/CL) – Aptos
Polypropylene

Lifting threads application principle
The lifting thread looks like a fly’s foot under a microscope. There are a lot of small teeth, which get caught by „obstacles“ (ligaments, septa) in the adipose tissue and help to pull. The face structures are used.
With a thread inserted into a blunt cannula or needle, we connect mobile (shifting, falling) and non-mobile (more stable in the ageing process) structures by anchoring the thread to the tissues that are stronger (ligaments, septa) than adipose tissue.
Tightening threads application principle
We use meso and tightening threads wherever we need to firm. Just as our grandmothers slid the frayed shabby heel of a sock onto the darning mushroom and sewed a thin skeleton with threads, so we „sew“ the skin inserted into the blunt cannula or needle to give it its original strength.
Combination:
an image is created from colours,
a symphony from tones,
a perfect result – from thoughtful steps.
For better effect, we can combine thread lifting and tightening threads with:
• Dermal fillers,
• botulinum toxin,
• biostimulators,
• plasma therapy,
• mesotherapy,
• chemical peeling,
• liposuction,
• fat transfer,
• laser,
• radiofrequency,
• ultrasound therapy and other procedures…
For the period of 14 days, we recommend avoiding:
• sauna,
• solarium,
• dental treatment,
• face massage,
• physical activity, exercise.
In some cases, antibiotics and analgesics are administered.
• Minimally invasive procedure performed under local anaesthesia.
• 20–30 minute procedure.
• Immediately visible results.
• Short recovery – minimal patient limitations.
• Preservation of natural facial expressions.
• No scars and minimal pain.
• Double effect: lifting and rejuvenation.
• New collagen production.
• Microcirculation support.
• Long-term effect.
• Cheaper than invasive procedures.
It can be combined with other aesthetic procedures.
At the facial thread lift consultation, we classify the ageing type of the middle and lower facial part (possibly forehead and eyebrows, chin and neck), the quantity and quality of soft tissues and skin.
The ideal patient has good skin quality, accentuated nasolabial folds and marionette lines, an irregular profile of lower jaw contour (so called saggy cheeks) and no or a very little excess skin.
The effect of thread lifting and consequent client satisfaction is determined by:
• Skin and subcutaneous tissue quality (not age!).
• Thread type.
• Application technique and correct fixation.
• Depth of implantation.
The best results can only be achieved if the basic principles of thread lifting are followed:
1. Careful selection of a suitable patient, his/her realistic expectations and perfect aesthetic analysis of the face.
2. Respect and knowledge of individual facial anatomy.
3. Understanding the ageing process.
4. Evaluation of skin and subcutaneous tissue quality.
5. The suitable thread type and precise application technique.
We know how important the amount and distribution of volumes and soft tissues is in facial aesthetics. If you just pull one centimetre here or add one millimetre there, it will change, affect and improve the facial appearance.
As the lifting threads are introduced into the subcutaneous fat layer, its quantity and quality play a crucial role in the final effect. This fact significantly affects whether the client is suitable for thread lift.
From this point of view, in the aesthetic analysis, we classify our clients into 3 categories based on those who need to:
1. ADD VOLUME, with the patient’s own fat or dermal fillers., vlastním tukem nebo dermálními výplněmi.
2. REDUCE VOLUME, by liposuction or lipolysis.
3. MOVE THE VOLUME, by thread, from the area where the volume dropped back to where it dropped from.
• Acute and chronic skin diseases in or around the injection site.
• Chronic disease in the acute phase or in decompensation.
• Autoimmune diseases.
• Hypersensitivity to components.
• Pregnancy and breast-feeding.
• Patient under 18 years of age.
• Permanent fillers.
• Hematoma (bruising) and swelling – are a natural reaction to the procedure.
• Unevenness around the thread – thread lift is performed in the so-called hypercorrection and the skin can be „piled up“ on the thread. The tissue usually “falls” by about 15 – 25% within 14-21 days and then everything is levelled.
• Visible projection and bluish translucency – are usually a result of too superficial application of the thread.
• Asymmetry – can be observed shortly after the procedure, usually the mimic muscles balance everything within 14-21 days.
It is advisable to consult a doctor with problems such as infection, inflammation or extrusion, when the end of the thread “peeks out”.
